Fathom

Fathom

Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and raised in two states that seem to be on opposite ends of the spectrum (Arizona and Hawaii), DJ Fathom has been a part of the underground electronic music scene since the late 90′s. After attending his first Rave in 1998, this native Hawaiian knew exactly what he wanted to be and began pursuing his DJ career. Learning the ins and outs of what a true DJ is, and applying that to his expansive knowledge of music, Fathom began DJing using the rawest form of the art, vinyl. Using Technic turntables and a Vestax mixer, Fathom quickly advanced from a Novice to a skilled DJ in a short period of time. Playing parties and festivals throughout Arizona and progressively improving his skills and knowledge of electronic music, Fathom (then known as “Chubakah”) began making a name for himself. Being a fan of all genres of music and constantly striving to improve his craft, Fathom changed his style in the early stages of the millennium and reverted back to an old art form Turntablism. Mixing underground hip hop beats laced with soul, funk, and and nu school flava, Fathom advanced to a new level of DJ. Not limited to just mixing tracks, but acquiring skills that go far beyond the average DJ, mastering the art of scratching and juggling records. In 2005, Fathom moved back to his roots in Hawaii, reuniting with his brother Ernie K and together creating Rareform Entertainment. Already making waves on the island, Rareform opened their first After hours nightclub, “EPIX”, successfully running for a year and paving the way for a new generation of nightlife. Joining forces with some of the most talented DJ’s on the island and throwing some of the most notorious parties and events in Hawaii, including Global Dance Festival, today Rareform is assisting in the success of Honolulu’s finest afterhours club, The Asylum. Fathom is know for being a versitle DJ. His style is widely recognized as creative and genuinely unique. Playing everything from Techno, Breaks, Drum and Bass, House, Hip Hop, Dubstep and many other genres, this Dj has a sound that is ever changing. Whether it is funky, soulful, melodic, driving, earthshaking or just groovy, Fathom knows how to get people moving. A professional DJ and producer, break dancer and photographer, Fathoms talents exceed peoples expectations. But playing music for hungry ears has always been his first love.

Ernie K

Ernie K

A native of the Hawaiian Archipelago, Ernie left his home in the Pacific Ocean to live in the Sonoran Desert, where musical interest was sparked by top notch influence. Having found this new love for electronic music at only 16 years of age, his career as a DJ began after he was gifted his first set of decks. Now, after playing vinyl for over thirteen years and having evolved to a more digital way of expressing music, Ernie’s bangin it out with Honolulu’s finest. While having residencies with the likes of ASYLUM Afterhours; Hawaii’s most forward thinking nightclub & playing with talent such as Sian, Add2Basket, and Audio Soul Project you won’t be disappointed when you hear his choice selection of Deep, Techy Hard-Hitting Funk.

Cryptik

Cryptik

Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Cryptik’s introduction to electronic music was at the 611 parties in Philadelphia circa 1997. Following a move to Hawaii in 2000, he discovered a small but passionate scene with amazing local talent. Later on that year, he purchased a set of used turntables and secured his first gig, playing a mixture of house and trance at the now defunct Evolutions Waikiki. Gradually drifting through several genres of music, Cryptik eventually settled on Drum and Bass, which he played exclusively for three years. Over this time, he shared the stage with the likes of Dara, UFO!, Concord Dawn, Divine Elements, and John B. A night out at Casa, Honolulu’s longest running deep house night, led to a one time gig there which was admittedly “Just for fun”. That night, however, was the beginning of a big change. Sparked by a growing disinterest in DNB and an ever present passion for house music, he began to shift allegiances. After his second time playing at Casa in late 2004, he was offered and accepted a residency, which he still holds. As more DJs and promoters heard his unique, genre bending blend of all things techy, deep and funky, more opportunities and guest spots poured in, culminating in 2008 with his partnership in Asylum Afterhours. Now with Asylum on the rise, Cryptik has his sights firmly set on the future…not only expecting to broaden his own musical horizons, but yours as well.

It was obvious that he had found his real passion, so he began mixing everything from hip hop to house, with only party-rocking in mind. Along with some guidance from his then partner in crime, DJ Technique, Russoul quickly made an imprint on the local scene. Now, 8 years later, he has become a regular name in the Hawaiian Island chain. Focusing mainly on dance music, he continues to stay diverse in nature which gives him an eclectic sound incorporating all types of 4×4. He has played alongside some of the world’s best in such as Chris Micali, Keoki, Morgan, Terry Mullen, Aleks, Denise, The Eastsiders, Mr. Vegas, Halo, Bad Boy Bill, Rabbit in the moon, Bassbin Twins, Uberzone, Miguel Migs, Dj Fame, David Harness, Corey Baker, and more

SoundSex

SoundSex

With remixes and original music rising the charts on Beatport (world’s leading electronic music download store), SoundSex’s latest release, and 2nd original single, “Dont F*ck Around” feat Kekoa Franconi, on Lets Beat Milo, took less than one day to reach a FEATURED spot on Beatport’s front page of Electro House. “Dont F*ck Around” hit all download stores, including, Beatport, iTunes, Amazon, Juno and Jamvana, March 15th 2011. Previous releases were in October of 2010. Releases include a remix of “Tension”, SoundSex’s 1st original single on Beatport in 2009, by Decoding Jesus (#2 on Beatport, Moist Music Top Downloads, 10-30-2010), and a release feat a remix of: David Christophere (of Rabbit in The Moon) & Decoding Jesus vs MelleeFresh & Keoki – “SLEAZEE”, released on PLAY DIGITAL, other remixers for this release include Dirtyloud, and Jerome Robbins.

The youngest brother of Dance music LEGEND, Superstar Dj Keoki, Miko Franconi has been living up to his name the moment he stepped up to the decks. His choices in music by far reflect the fact that he has been a member of electronic dance music movement since toddler years. He takes the long route to the climactic part of a set, (or to look at it differently, its one long climax!! , SoundSex). Laying down songs with melodic hooks, and face-melting basslines, traveling from techno, to electro, to breaks, (and sometimes dub-step, which he fondly refers to as dub-SEX) he teases the crowd before making that rise to total dancefloor madness. This is a true sign of a masterful dj, and Miko has worked his way into our hearts via dance music. He has worked his dj’ing skills in clubs spanning across the states, from NY, Miami, Denver to LA, including Ultra Music Festival (WMC 2010 Miami), The Church (top-5 clubs in US), Beta (Beatport owned) and MEGA CLUBS Bar Standard and FUTURE LA Underground. Miko Franconi began his dj career back in 1998, spinning side beside his brother Kekoa, a legend in the music industry himself (owner/operator of Superstar Productions). When Miko and Koa teamed up, as an opening act for Keoki, back in 1998, under the name Kibbles N’ Beats, the scene knew that techno music was yet to be changed with THESE Franconi brothers attacking dance floors. Music is definitely a force in this family. Miko is also the younger brother of Hawaii celebrity and radio personality Maleko.
Miko Franconi is back behind the lights and in dj booths yet again after a long hiatus to “gather his strength,” and he’s doing it with a vengeance, as if he knows that he has a lot to live up to, and believe me, he has “Superstar” written all over him! Having been interviewed in 808SceneZine and on over a dozen radio interviews from Hawaii to Florida, Miko has set his sights for the top, and we all have a chance to witness the rise. When you see (and feel) how naturally he makes the dancefloor move.. you too will be a believer.. the Franconi Legacy has much more in store for us.
